Students’ Rating of Their Teachers
学生给老师打分已很普遍
人们对其持不同态度
我的看法
【范文】
Students’ Rating of Their Teachers
Nowadays, it has become as common in colleges and universities for students to grade teachers as for teachers to grade students. In some universities students’ rating has even become the only source of information on teaching effectiveness.
This, however, has caused great controversy. Some are in favor of the rating system. They hold that since students attend the teachers’ classes everyday, they should have their opinion about their teachers’ effectiveness. Others, on the contrary, are strongly against it. They believe that there is much more to teaching than what is shown on students’ rating forms. Students should not be expected to judge whether the materials used are up to date or how well the teacher knows about the subject. These judgments require professional knowledge, which is best left for the teachers’ colleagues.
I think students’ rating of their teachers is necessary, but it should be conducted in a way that can really shed meaningful light on teachers’ performance. Instead of rating the teachers’ knowledge on the subject, students should be asked to estimate what they themselves have leaned in a course, and to report on such things as a teacher’s ability to communicate with students, his relationship with students, and his ability to arouse interest in the subject.

Moral Building on Campus

Moral Building on Campus
Recently, if you search the internet or other media, you would see reports on demoralization now and then. Universities are no exception. These demoralization shows in the following aspects: theft, lack of credibility, cheating in examinations, plagiarism in papers, improper interaction with the opposite sex etc. In sum, moral building on campus is of critical importance in students’ all-round development.
On one hand, this requires the universities to attach great importance to natural environment planning and building. A good campus environment plays an active role in cultivating students’ ideology and moral education. On the other hand, the staff in the university should find the best in both Chinese and Western culture to educate the students. Students can learn important lessons from Western cultures, adding to our profound morality.
We, as students in the university, should be aware of the importance of moral building. We should do something to support the moral building work, starting from little things around us. Students Union should organize some activities for students to take part in, highlighting the importance of moral building.

写作题目:大学的名气和专业,哪个更重要?
It is widely accepted that to be admitted by a prestigious university is crucial for one's future career. However, others also argue that it is better to choose one's favourite major in an ordinary university if he cannot be offered the same one by a famous university. What is more important to you-famous universit3r or major?
写作范文:Favourite Major Outweighs a Prestigious University
If one cannot study one's favourite major in a prestigious university, is it better to opt for a second-best university in which one can choose one's preferred major? In my opinion, it is more important to study what one likes rather than being enrolled in a famous university at the expense of one's interest.
Admittedly, a prestigious university yields several advantages when it comes to job hunting, However, the name of the university is not the clincher in determining one's future career. Perseverance and determination contribute greatly to one's success. And what underlies these two things is an intrinsic penchant for what one studies. On the other hand, if one chooses a major one detests merely for the sake of the prestige of the university, it is tantamount to digging a grave for oneself. Just imagine how much enjoyment in life will be taken away from toiling over fields one is least interested in. Last but not least, it is often said that one can only achieve something substantial in a certain area by applying oneself to it. Otherwise, one inevitably feels being trapped in a dead end since one's talents have been suppressed.
In view of these points, I believe that the choice is clear-a favourite major outweighs a prestigious university. (213 words)

Green Consumption
The conception of green consumption has gradually become popular in China. More and more green foods are making their appearance on the market and more and more people are becoming conscious of environmental protection.
However, there still exist quite a few difficulties in the further promotion of green consumption. On the one hand, many people are still not quite clear of the advantages of green foods. On the other hand, due to high profits, many fake green foods are found in the market. Moreover, many consumers don’t want to pay extra money for green foods.
There may be several ways to solve these problems. Firstly, the government should supervise the good quality strictly to protect consumers’ interests. Secondly, the conception of green consumption should be further promoted and emphasized. Thirdly, the government should work together with manufacturers to make the price more reasonable.

写作题目:计算机翻译
With the amazing development of computer technology, computers can translate all kinds of languages well so our children don't need to learn foreign languages in the future. To what extent do you agree with this view?
写作范文Machine Translation Cannot Replace Human Translation
Machine translation has been the focus of intense interest since the advent of programmable computers. In spite of its increasing popularity, I personally hold that it cannot replace human translation. Learning foreign languages will still be important in the future.
First of all, as globalization and communications are bringing the world ever closer together, ever more urgent he need for global citizens to be competent ins other languages. In a world where nations and peoples are ever more dependent upon one another to supply goods and services, solve political disputes and ensure international security, understanding other cultures is paramount. Learning another language gives the learner the ability to step inside the mind and context of that other culture. Without the ability to communicate and understand a culture on its own terms, true access to that culture is barred. Furthermore, having a second language on a resume is almost a requirement of the job-seeking professional. Businesses recognize that a person with the ability to speak a second language fluently is a valuable asset, It also shows off the capacity of the aspiring job candidate to learn and assimilate complex systems of information, a talent that is sure to catch the attention of any human resources department: Though computers can translate different kinds of languages, machine translation has many shortcomings, making it impossible for it to replace human translation. Computer translation is understandable, but not of publishable quality. Furthermore, the computer cannot discern context and intended meaning the same way a human can. On the contrary, human translation is more accurate and reliable.
In conclusion, computer translation cannot replace human translation and learning foreign languages will remain vital in the future. (281 words)

Should grad student be paid higher than non-grads?
1. 大学生目前存在错误心理“大学生应比非大学生挣钱多”
给出大学生会有这种错误的心理的原因
从非大学生的发展状况来批判大学生这种错误的心理
【范文】
Should grad students be paid higher than non-grads?
In our country, it is obvious now that the university graduates earn more money than non-graduates. I quite agree with those graduates who have paid a lot for their studies and expect to make more for either himself or his family.
However, it is not so optimistically for those who hope to make it. The critical career competition makes them frustrated due to many factors involved. One of the utmost factors is that they feel what they anticipate is not matching up with what they have found in reality. Many university graduates are not satisfied with what they get for what they have done. As a matter of fact, some of them expect so unrealistic that they immediately lose the credit to the workforce they belong to.
On the contrary, some of the non-grads who are more realistic in career hunting tend to get more satisfied job compared with graduates. Thus what really matters here in salary balance is how one can contribute to the organization rather than what background they hold. The tuition is really high in China. Many high quality students due to this have lost their academic pursuit. Any responsible government should inevitably take this burden and put more money in order to bring up better next generation for the nation.

Directions: For this part, you are allowed thirty minutes to write a composition on Green Olympics,You should write at least 120 words according to the suggestions given bellow in Chinese;
1. 现在社会上有很多环境污染和精神污染的现象,提出你对“绿色奥运”的看法。
2. 为什么要提倡“绿色奥运”。
3. 提倡绿色奥运,从自己做起。
【范文】
Green Olympics
Olympic Games, as we all know, is a historic sports meeting. “Green Olympics”, is one of the three themes of Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. At present, people’s life is being flooded with exhaust gas from automobile, blue film, waste water and so on. Owing to these phenomena, we should advocate “Green Olympics”, and I am positive of this point.
Two possible reasons are as follows. Firstly, environmental protection benefits people’s health. In terms of increasing number of trashes around us, such as white plastic bags, one-off cups and chopsticks, it is sensible of disposing of them reasonably. So we ought to use clean technology, renewable and recyclable materials. Secondly, environmental protection is crucial to our country, and even to the world. Lots of countries attached more attention to embrace the Olympic spirits—“higher, faster, and stronger”。
In conclusion, as college students and the young generation, we should try our best to advocate “Green Olympics”。 The 2008 Olympic Games will be a green and unique Olympics.

写作题目:环境
The cheapest energy comes from coal, which is very polluting, but necessary for economic growth. Do you think the price of poorer health, farmland, and general environment is too high to pay for prosperity? What is your opinion?
写作范文
We Should Reduce Our Dependency on Coal
Accounting for 70 percent of China's energy supply, coal has fueled China's economy. However, as an extremely dirty source of power, coal imposes huge costs on people's health and general environment. As far as I am concerned, the cost is too high.
Firstly, deterioration of the environment and people's health will in turn halt economic growth. The environment, as a resource-provider, exerts direct influence on economic production, and is closely related to the living standards, health condition and longevity of people. Once certain damage is done, we will have to suffer from the horrendous consequences. The “retaliation”of nature comes in forms of resource exhaustion, water and soil erosion, natural disasters and so forth. In this situation, the economy is certain to be affected, The overuse of coal, which will finally yield severe results, is a perfect example. Secondly, economic development should not sacrifice people's health and the environment. It is the government's responsibility to ensure a good environment for the sake of people's health. Unfortunately, coal induces considerable environmental hazards which can be noticed at local and global level.
"Prosperity" is a state when a society is socially arid environmentally thriving, not just confined to economic growth. Therefore, we should reduce coal dependency and move towards a future where energy supply is both environmentally friendly and sustainable, (218 words)
