The people of China have been very much in my thoughts over the past two weeks as I have watched, with mounting concern, the effects of the devastation caused by the terrible earthquake in Sichuan Province. It has been most impressive to see the marvellous way in which the Chinese humanitarian operations have brought swift and effective relief to those affected. I am particularly pleased that the Wenchuan Earthquake Orphan Fund has been established, to help the children who have lost their parents in the disaster.
I wanted to take this opportunity to send my deepest sympathy following this terrible tragedy to the people of China, and my most heartfelt condolences to all those who have lost loved ones.
My Prince's Charities are engaging ever more closely in China, including work to assist, in a small way, with the preservation of China's rich and diverse heritage. It would give me the greatest pleasure if we were able to develop these ties still further with, in particular, practical assistance from my Prince's Foundation for the Built Environment in planning the reconstruction of parts of Sichuan Province.

慰问信英语 篇2
Dear victims,
A powerful earthquake hit your hometown, Yushu in Qinghai province month ago. It is also a terrible natural disaster for our whole nation. It has caused both financial and life loss. Until now, approximately seventy thousand people lost their lives due to the earthquake and much more were injured seriously.
Six million people have no homes to return as the majority of the buildings were collapsed. These days we keep watching the staggering deathroll and hearing the heart-wrenching stories from the Yushu earthquake. We are so much saddened that many children lost their parents and many couples lost their lovers. I could not help but cry when hearing of the moving stories that happened during the disaster. And we are so much touched by the true outpouring of effort and emotion from all over the country. You are not alone and you won’t feel lonely. Our whole nation is a big family, and every member would like to give a helping hand by all means, such as donating money, time, energy and blood to the people in the stricken area.
We, 1.3 billion Chinese people shed the same tear sharing the same hopes. A series of actions has been taken since the earthquake happened. A majority of Chinese people are doing whatever they can to lend a hand. I believe, with the assistance of people in all walks of life, your after-disaster reconstruction will be dealt with at a fantastic speed. The stricken area will soon be restored. And I hope you can pull yourself together and muster up courage to face the future. We will overcome any difficulty, because we are Chinese. Ten thousand people beat everything with a single undying heart".
Try to look on the bright side of things. The future will be bright, cheer up!
Yours sincerely

Dear Peter,
What a surprise to me it was when the news came that you failed in the Entrance Examination to College. You have always worked hard in school. In the final examination, you have distinguished yourself with honour. Your failure is not your own fault, I am sure.
Those who have real knowledge may fail in the examination if chance is against them. I hope you won`t take this to heart and will get ready to try again.
Yours sincerely,
Johnson

Dear Tom,
Sorry it’s been so long since I last wrote you. I heard from our ex-classmate Sally that you broke your ankle playing basketball. My sympathies on your injury. I remember that you were always very active in school, so I’m not surprised that you still play sports. But I am curious as to how you hurt yourself. Of course, if the memory is too painful, you don’t have to tell me.
Since you will be bedridden for the next few weeks, I thought you might like some books to read. I am sending you copies of two of my favorite novels. I hope you enjoy them. Take good care of yourself; don’t try to get out of bed until your ankle is healed! Get well soon.
Your friend,
Dan Wilson

慰问信英语 篇13
Dear victims,
On the 12 of May in 20xx, an incredible and unknown earthquake suddenly happened in Wenchuan, Sichuan province. Almost half of China was affected. It was a huge calamity to Chinese people.
Until now, there are nearly 50 thousand people who died in this earthquake and more people injured. Many people lost their relatives and fell into the deep sorrow. And they also lost their homes and hometowns. A large number of buildings were damaged. What’s more, many children and students lost their lives because of the collapse of schools. And their parents who suffer from this big calamity can’t accept the fact until now.
All of the Chinese people begin to act and do everything they can when they hear the news. Almost every one of us contributes a great number of money and goods which people in Sichuan need. As students, we don’t have enough money to donate, but we should do all that we could do. What’s more important, we consider that we can help Sichuan people rebuilt and their home andlive happily.
Yours sincerely

Dear victims,
I was astonished and grievous to hear of the calamitous earthquake happening on May, 12th. It’s really a national disaster, causing tremendous loss to our whole nation physically and mentally. By now, the terrible earthquake has claimed over 60 thousand lives, injured far more people, and led 5 million homeless.
Seeing the related movies and photos, I could not help crying. I’m especially moved by those high-minded people in front of the catastrophe! I’m proud of you, tough people!
Despite the calamity, I hope that you, our brothers and sisters in the earthquake-striken area, will believe in us, in our government, and in the power of love. Our country being a big one with a large population of about 1.4 billion, if we share the calamity together, it would be reduced to only a small “shower”. Therefore, please keep in mind that the road is tortuous, the future is bright. The storm will give way to bright sunshine in the long run. And finally, everything will be recovered, and even better than it was.Best wishes!
Yours sincerely,
Linda

Dear Li Gang,
I was really shocked and saddened to hear of your unhappy experience in the earthquake.
There is little that anyone can say or do at a time like this to ease your grief, but I would express my deepest sympathy.
In the next day or so you will receive a little package from me. I hope you like it, and that it will be useful at your present moment. What’s more, please don’t hesitate to contact me if there is anything else I can do now and always.
I do hope you will soon get well again and be able to come back to school. Be assured of my availability and eagerness to help in any way I can.
Yours sincerely,
Li Ming
